In late March we set off on our Escorted Tour ‘Road to Gallipoli’ which was simply fantastic. Desert, sea, sand, green fields, ruins, mountains, monuments and moments we will never forget.
Jordan is like the Switzerland of Europe, the
peacemaker, the neutral country in the middle of constant conflict between other neighbouring countries. Christians were traditionally 6 of the 6 million population and now due to the flood of refugees coming across their borders all day & night, every day, from Syria & Iraq, estimated at
over 4 million people, this figure is now 35% and Jordan’s population is now over 11 million people. It is a very interesting country with so much history and many ancient biblical ruins such as Bethany where John the Baptist baptised Jesus in the Jordan Rver and Mt Nebo where Moses was shown the Promised Land.
The scenery & sights, the people we met, their food & culture and to visit Gallipoli and see with our own eyes, the place that is
etched in our history, was a dream come true.
Jordan is like the Switzerland of Europe, the peacemaker, the neutral country in the middle of constant conflict between other neighbouring countries.
We visited Egypt, traversed the Suez Canal on board the very intimate MS Island Sky followed by visits to Cyprus, Anantalya, Kas, Kos, Rhodes, Bodum, Ephesus, Gallipoli and then spent 13 amazing days in Turkey where we made our way from the far east area across into the central area of Cappadocia where we took an Early morning balloon flight over Cappadocia with over 130 colourful balloons in the air – This was one of the best experiences of my life!
