In April, I travelled to the USA spending two weeks in Texas with a couple of mates.
After flying into Dallas Fort Worth, I picked up a hire car and proceeded to the city where I spent the main part of my time, San Antonio.
San Antonio is approximately a 4 hour drive from Dallas. The drive was fairly easy, with freeways most of the way and although there is a little bit of traffic passing through some of the bigger towns on the journey, you are still able to get a good feel for the landscape of Texas. San Antonio is a very picturesque and vibrant small city. What it lacks in size compared to places like New York and Los Angeles, it makes up in culture and the friendliness of people is second to none compared to other cities that I have visited in the states previously.
We visited the two most historical sites within the city, The San Antonio Riverwalk and The Alamo. We also happened to be in the city during the annual celebration of ‘fiesta’ which lasts for 14 days and is basically a party in the streets for everyone in San Antonio! But the main part of the trip was to watch my favourite NBA team, the San Antonio Spurs. I was lucky enough to go to 4 games during my trip and they were all awesome!

As well as San Antonio, we spent some time in Dallas and Austin, the capital of Texas. In Dallas, I visited the 6th floor museum and learnt all about President John F Kennedy and his assassination on November 22, 1963. I also visited the Grapevine Mills Shopping Outlets and took a tour of AT&T Stadium home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. The Stadium cost $1.15 billion to build and has a big screen over 50 meters wide and 9 stories high. At the end of the tour we were lucky enough
to have a throw and kick of an American football on the arena!

In Austin, we took a walk to Rainey Street, a street of historic homes in downtown Austin that have been turned into different restaurants and bars.
I finished off my trip with 3 nights in Dubai visiting my cousin which was a good way to end the trip!
